King Ladislaus IV Vasa (Władysław IV Waza, 1595-1648) granting the city Mayor and the city councillors of Krakow the right to impose fees on the merchandise brought into the city by retailers. Half of this income was to cover the erection of the city walls, moats and other city needs and the other half to be paid to the councillors as the payment for their work of city officials
